Financial Support, Grants and assistance for athletes
Everyone knows that elite athletes attract financial support through Lottery funding administered by UKA. But did you know that athletes of all abilities can apply for a wide range of financial assistance from many other organisations, charities and trusts. PAC has brought together information on many of these sources below. Please note that the requirements for funding vary for each source and they are subject to change. Good Luck!
Peterborough Sports Aid Foundation
Helping youngsters to pursue their sporting dreams, rewarding commitment and alleviating hardship. Promoting sport as an education for life.
SportsAid provides financial assistance to Britain’s amateur sportsmen and women. The aim is to help them prepare for the competitions against better funded, overseas athletes. SportsAid focuses on giving grants to youngsters aged 12 to 18 years old who are a member of the GB/England team or in a National squad. The grants can help with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment. Applicants must be identified and nominated by their Governing Bodies of Sport, based on their talent and sporting results. If you feel you meet these criteria, contact your National Governing Body to discuss your nomination for a SportsAid Award and request a SportsAid application.
Applications must be submitted with details of the applicants’ sport, achievements and plans, together with confirmation from their coaches. The applications are submitted through the SportsAid system to the national body controlling their sport for approval.
We are developing close links with all sports clubs and schools in Peterborough. Anyone who would benefit from a grant should ask their coach, club official or teacher. Further details available on the website:
